About My Heroes
My Hero is more than an apparel company, it’s alternative history! We feature characters that were always missing from the cartoons we watched as kids in the 70’s and 80’s. Black Superheroes that were cool enough to stand alongside my favorite characters like Batman, He-Man and Spider-Man and not just token black Heroes with generic powers and costumes.
I always wanted to see more characters like The "Brown Hornet" and maybe the first black Superhero I ever saw on tv “Verb” from the "Verb that's what's happening" episode of schoolhouse rock so I created them! Now we have T-shirts that features Superheroes that we wanted to see as a child and wanted to be as an adult! Make My Heroes your Heroes!

My love for Superheroes started at a young age and I never grew out of it. I am proud of my love for Superheroes and would wear a Hero themed T-shirt and jeans everyday if I could (and I often do!) My favorite Heroes as a child were Spider-man and Batman and they still are to this day along with a variety of other characters.
I thought that it would be cool idea to create Black Superheroes that looked like me that I never saw as a child in my favorite childhood Superhero cartoons. I never wanted the Heroes who shows I watched like Batman and Spider Man or any other of my favorite Superhero characters to be black, I love them just the way they are. All I wanted as a child and even as an adult was to see characters that looked like me that I could be proud of, that were well designed, not playing to stereotypes and could stand along side all my other beloved Heroes!
I will admit that there are more Superheroes of color in the mainstream today (such as Luke Cage, Cyborg, Miles Morales a.k.a Spider-man, Black Lightning and come Feb 2018 a live action Black Panther movie!) than there were when I was a child growing up in the 70's and 80's but there is still a long way to go! Often we think that if it's not on mainstream media that it doesn't exist, but the truth is there is a world of independent Black comic books, animation, movies etc etc out there and with a few good google searches you should be able to find the Hero you have always been looking for! Find your Hero, be your Hero! J
I dedicate "My Heroes" to the "B.C" kids (Before Comics) that grew up getting their Superhero fix from watching their favorite Saturday morning cartoons and not seeing Heroes that looked like them!
For the kid that wanted to see himself as a hero so bad that he couldn't wait to see the "Verb" (that's whats happening!) episode of school house rock or even sneaking a peek by looking over the shoulders of Fat Albert and his gang while they watched their favorite Superhero show the Brown Hornet! (see video clips below)
This is a collection of original Retro styled Heroes that would have fit right along side your favorite childhood Superhero cartoon characters from the 80's! These are the characters you wanted to see as a child and wanted to be as an adult! These Heroes were created for Bubby and kids like him that were looking for Heroes that looked like them! My Heroes are now ours! Jay (a.k.a Bubby)
